Focus on organic agriculture
After a long period of slow growth, the organic food market has experienced an exponential development in recent years. This can be explained by the ever-growing enthusiasm of consumers for organic products. Focus on organic farming!
What is organic agriculture?
It is a method of cultivation and breeding that respects the natural balance. Its objective is to reduce the human impact on the environment. Organic agriculture advocates a natural approach and prohibits the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and synthetic chemicals, such as pesticides or chemical fertilizers. In addition to agriculture itself, organic farming also takes into account the processing, distribution and sale of foodstuffs.
The Organic Agriculture label and the European organic label “”Eurofeuille””
The Organic Agriculture label (AB label) or AB certification mark as well as the European organic label (Eurofeuille) identify products from organic agriculture. They guarantee products that are 100% organic or contain at least 95% organically produced ingredients for processed products, such as essential oils.
The AB logo can be used optionally, in addition to the European organic label “”Eurofeuille”” which is gradually replacing it.
How to obtain the European Organic Agriculture label?
For a farmer to enter the organic market, he must use the services of a certifying body approved by the public authorities, such as Ecocert. The latter inspects and certifies the conformity of the product concerned with the official European regulations of organic agriculture. A certificate stating that the product meets the requirements is issued if these are fully met. The farmer can then put the organic logo on the certified products and market them on the European market.
For Viona essential oils, we are currently in the process of obtaining the AB label and the European organic label.
